Early Influences
At an early age, my Dad, who is also a drummer, guided me as I started playing drums. I began taking lessons at school when I was 12 and started performing more seriously in various school bands, amateur productions, and even played for free…
Initially, I simply enjoyed playing to music and grooves that felt good. However, as I progressed and became more interested in the instrument, I realised that I needed to acquire greater musical knowledge and technical proficiency to gain an advantage over other young players.
Progression and Musical Growth
During my teenage years, my obsession with all things drums led me to pursue studies in London. This experience helped me understand the level of proficiency required to be considered for professional gigs and opportunities. I earned a first-class BMus (Hons) in Popular Music Performance from The Institute of Contemporary Performance (ICMP) in 2019. Since returning to the North-West, I have worked as a freelance drummer and drums teacher with various singer-songwriters, bands, and other projects.
Drum Lessons for All Ages & Skill Levels
I teach drums privately in North-West England to students of all ages and skill levels. I personalize my instruction to suit each student’s unique learning preferences by adapting my teaching style. From basic techniques to advanced concepts, I offer a range of lessons that aim to help my students become confident and skilled drummers. I create an enjoyable and engaging learning experience to make drumming a fun and rewarding activity for everyone. More information on my drum tutoring can be found here.
Current Work and Projects
I play drums regularly throughout the North-West with my own groups, theatre productions, studio sessions, and different function bands. Besides being a “session player”, I am also a member of The Rafters, a punk rock band based out of Blackburn, Lancashire. We regularly make noise in the North-West.
Recording During the Pandemic
During the pandemic, various bands and artists requested that I remotely record drums for them. To do so, I developed a makeshift recording setup with limited microphones, which I continued to evolve into a more advanced setup with more microphones and gear as I did more recordings. More information about my session work can be found here.
